Debbie Mucarsel-Powell Calls On U.S. To Support Cuban Fight For Democracy
Miami, FL – In response to protests against the Díaz-Canel regime in Cuba, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is calling on the U.S. government to stand with the Cuban people standing against communism and fighting for democracy and change.
“Right now in Cuba, thousands of people are taking to the streets to protest the oppressive communist Díaz-Canel regime. Families are starving, they are without power, and their government does not care. It created these conditions to silence civilians,” said Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “The United States has a responsibility to stand strong against communism and aid the Cuban people who are standing up for democracy and change.”
“I’m calling on the United States government to take immediate action and send humanitarian aid, including powdered milk for children and babies. For far too long, our Latino communities – and specifically the Cuban American community in South Florida – have watched our friends and family suffer under this failed regime. Enough is enough. We must take action.”
