Debbie Mucarsel-Powell Statement On 51st Anniversary Of Roe v. Wade

Despite The Fact That 67% Of Floridians Support Access To Abortion, Rick Scott Cosponsored A National Abortion Ban And Backed Florida’s Dangerous Six Week Ban

Scott Has Doubled Down On His Radical Position And Dismissed The Issue Of Women’s Fundamental Freedoms As A “Tough Issue For Women.”

Miami, FL – Debbie Mucarsel-Powell released the following statement today on the 51st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.

“As a woman and a proud mother of two daughters, the fight to protect our fundamental rights is incredibly personal to me – and I refuse to let extreme and corrupt politicians like Rick Scott disrespect women and treat us like second class citizens,” said Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “Rick Scott has made a career out of pushing extreme abortion bans that would strip women of their freedoms and criminalize health care providers. But like so many Latinos in Florida, I know what it means to live under a government that controls every aspect of your life, and I refuse to let us go backwards. Unlike Rick Scott, I’m proud to stand with the overwhelming majority of Floridians who believe in a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body. Our reproductive freedom, our access to abortion, and health care are on the ballot in November, and Floridians are ready to hold self-serving Scott accountable for daring to take away our health care and our freedoms.”
