Fact: Rick Scott Wants to End Social Security and Medicare

Rick Scott wants to end Social Security and Medicare. He introduced his 11 Point Plan to Rescue America which included a provision that all federal legislation, such as Social Security and Medicare, would sunset within five years.

Rick Scott’s plan would leave millions of seniors throughout Florida and the country in harm’s way. He’d put critical programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid on the chopping block, putting the health and economic security of millions of Floridians at risk.

Republicans and Democrats agree that Rick Scott’s plan would end these critical programs. Even Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said, “We will not have as part of our agenda a bill that raises taxes on half the American people and sunsets Social Security and Medicare within five years.”

Fact: Rick Scott Has Failed Floridians on Climate Change

Rick Scott has failed to protect our environment and our families. While Florida faces some of the most severe consequences of climate change anywhere in the country, Rick Scott continues to vote against climate legislation that would help prevent these tragedies.

As governor, Rick Scott banned the terms “climate change,” “global warming,” and “sea-level rise” from employees at Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection.

He regularly puts the wishes of his oil and gas donors above the needs of Florida’s environment and families. Scott sides with climate change deniers over Floridians, undermined bipartisan programs to protect our environment, and let polluters off the hook as governor.

Fact: Rick Scott Wants a National Abortion Ban

Rick Scott has said he’s in favor of a national abortion ban, and as governor he signed laws requiring mandatory ultrasounds and restricting access to abortion even in cases of rape or incest. And he supports DeSantis’s extreme six-week ban.

He voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), legislation that would protect abortion rights in Florida and across the country.

Rick Scott’s extreme anti-abortion agenda is dangerous and will put Florida women at risk.
